MELANATED, IDENTITY AND MEMORY
On the evening of Saturday, 28 March 2026, a new chapter was not only opened , it was felt, shared, and remembered.
The I AM: Melanated Identity and Memory gathering brought together a powerful constellation of thinkers, artists, culturalists, healers, and visionaries from across the continent and the diaspora. What unfolded was more than an event; it was a living expression of memory, identity, and collective presence.
Held at The Social House and experienced both in Nairobi and across digital spaces, the evening became a meeting point of stories, rhythms, ideas, and spirit. Through conversation, music, art, and shared reflection, we reconnected with ourselves, with each other, and with the deeper currents of who we are.
This moment also marked the public unveiling of AA Ujamaa not simply as an initiative, but as a cultural home. A space devoted to African memory, creativity, and community.
What began that evening continues to grow. We extend our deepest gratitude to every attendee, contributor, vendor, performer, partner, and supporter who made this gathering possible. Your presence, energy, and belief shaped the experience into what it became.
This was not a conclusion, it was a beginning. More gatherings. More stories. More spaces to remember, create, and imagine together.

Alkebulan's Abode operates as a resource-generating entity—not a non-profit—to ensure African ideas, systems, and cultural restoration are funded by and for Africans. Guided by Ubuntu economics, 5% of all proceeds support community initiatives, with full transparency in annual impact reporting.
